Old Curiosity Shop
During the 1950's Royal China started Manufacturing this interesting Sage Green Dinnerware Pattern. It features authentic reproductions of old world traditional scenes and was inspired by Charles Dickens novel "The Old Curiosity Shop". If you are ever in London, we are told the actual antique shop that is featured on the Dinner Plate and in the novel still exists on Portsmouth Street where it has stood since 1567.
The Old Curiosity Shop like most other Royal China patterns was sold through many retail outlets and given away as premiums in supermarkets, etc. It was made in Green, Pink, Blue and Black but Green is the color that seems to have survived the test of time and is readily available to Collectors.
